Temporary Relocation
Due to weather disruptions, we may occasionally depart from Port of Akureyri
WE WANT TO GO AN EXTRA MILE FOR YOU - literally.
Skjálfandi Bay is an open ocean bay, naturally exposed to wind and swell. In case of prolonged periods of challenging conditions, we may temporarily operate from Akureyri to maintain the quality of our tours, as the fjord’s surrounding mountains can sometimes provide more shelter from the wind. This decision is made only if we can confirm the wildlife activity in the area at the time, to ensure we continue to offer the best possible experience.
WE DON’T GO WITH THE FLOW, WE FOUND A WAY!
In recent weeks, conditions in the Bay have been challenging, resulting in lots of cancellations. As the weather forecast for the upcoming days is likely to result in even more cancellations, we have decided to move our boat to a nearby fjord, which is expected to be sheltered from the wind by the mountains in the coming days and will allow us to operate the tours.
WE WANT YOU TO MEET THE ICELANDIC WHALES
Prior making the relocation decision, we checked with local boats in the area to confirm if there has been wildlife activity and we have confirmed there have been recorded sightings of whales.
