July in Skjálfandi Bay

July in Skjálfandi Bay

July reminded us that no two days in Skjálfandi Bay are ever the same.

The month began with some lively weather but, despite the wind, the bay rewarded us with wonderful wildlife encounters.

Humpbacks Everywhere!

Humpback whales were the stars of July, often surfacing close to our boats and rewarding our guests with unforgettable sightings. One familiar visitor, Flukaccia, made several appearances throughout the month.

We also encountered minke whales, while thousands of Atlantic puffins continued to fill the islands at the mouth of the bay.

Every Tour Is Different

One of the things we love most about whale watching is its unpredictability. Some days the whales greet us within minutes of leaving the harbour. Other days we need to search for a little longer. That's the beauty of experiencing wildlife in its natural habitat - we wouldn’t have it any other way!

Thank you to everyone who joined us during July. This is the first story in our journal, and we look forward to sharing many more adventures from Skjálfandi Bay!
