Humpbacks Across Skjálfandi Bay

Humpback whales were spread around Skjálfandi Bay today, with different encounters on our morning and afternoon whale watching tours from Húsavík.

Morning Tour

Our morning tour encountered two humpback whales in different parts of the bay ,one to the northeast and another to the southwest.

We also encountered a minke whale, giving us two different whale species during the morning search.

Afternoon Tour

By the afternoon, the number of humpbacks we encountered had increased.

This time we found four humpback whales, including two whales together, making for another very good afternoon on Skjálfandi Bay.

Once again, the two departures showed how quickly the wildlife picture can change. The morning brought two humpbacks and a minke whale spread around the bay, while a few hours later we encountered four humpbacks.
