A Blue Whale and Humpbacks to Start May

Our first whale watching day of May brought a wonderful mix of sightings to Skjálfandi Bay, with humpback whales encountered on both tours and a blue whale joining us in the morning.

Morning Tour

The morning tour encountered two humpback whales and a blue whale , an exciting combination to begin the month.

Blue whales are always a particularly special sight in Skjálfandi Bay. Sharing the bay with the largest animal on Earth alongside two humpback whales made for a memorable start to our May sightings.

Afternoon Tour

When we headed back onto Skjálfandi Bay for the afternoon tour, we again encountered two humpback whales.

The blue whale wasn't part of our afternoon sightings, giving the two departures different experiences despite taking place only a few hours apart.

May had certainly started well: two tours, humpback whales on both, and a blue whale to begin the day.
