A Humpback and a Minke Whale in Skjálfandi Bay
Today we encountered two different whale species during our search of Skjálfandi Bay: a humpback whale and a minke whale.
Both whales proved challenging to observe, giving us only limited opportunities to see them at the surface. Some whale watching encounters are long and easy to follow, while others require patience and a careful eye and today was definitely one of the latter.
Still, finding both a humpback and a minke whale added another two-species day to our April record from Húsavík.
Every tour on Skjálfandi Bay unfolds differently, and today's encounter was a good example of the quieter and more elusive side of watching whales in the wild. 🐋
