A Patient Search for a Humpback Whale

Today’s whale watching tour from Húsavík brought us another encounter with a humpback whale in Skjálfandi Bay.

The whale was difficult to observe at first, requiring some patience as we waited for opportunities to see it at the surface. As the encounter continued, we were able to get some better looks and enjoy our time with the whale before continuing our journey on the bay.

Days like this are a good example of how different every whale encounter can be. Some whales are easy to follow at the surface, while others can be much more elusive.

For April 26, our Ocean Journal records one humpback whale and another day spent searching the waters of Skjálfandi Bay. 🐋
