Two Humpback Whales on Skjálfandi Bay

Today’s whale watching tour from Húsavík brought us an encounter with two humpback whales in Skjálfandi Bay.

The whales were a little challenging to observe today, spending limited time at the surface and not showing their flukes very often. Nevertheless, we were able to spend time in their presence and add another two humpbacks to our April sightings record.

Encounters like this can be very different from one day to the next. Sometimes humpback whales remain at the surface and show their tails repeatedly, while on other days we may only get brief glimpses before they disappear beneath the water again.

Today was one of those quieter humpback encounters ,two whales in the bay, observed entirely on their own terms. 🐋
